When Dumbledore explained the importance of a self-fulfilling prophecy in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, he impressed on Harry the fact that Voldemort had hand-created an enemy for himself by trying to ensure his immortality. However, he had known, or at least deeply suspected, that Harry would survive his eventual sacrifice. When Snape accused Dumbledore of raising Harry for the slaughter, the headmaster didn't deny it. Still, it sheds light on some of Dumbledore's later actions, especially those that seemed cruel and heartless. So, the subtle clue given years before the series' climax was easy to miss.
Dumbledore's triumph in the Goblet of Fire book was never mentioned again, and Harry never even considered it after he learned the truth about how blood assisted in his survival.
